BenQ W5000 Full HD DLP Projector.

May 20, 2008

I’m appreciative of the fact, though, that BenQ has made some pains to ‘prettify’ the W5000 behemoth with the use of a glossy creamy and metallic silver finish. But at the same time I couldn’t help but feel that this cease actually looks slightly incongruously effeminate on what’s otherwise a butch hunk of raw AV power. Turning to the W5000’s connections, there’s attractive news and bad news. On the upside, you get two HDMIs, BNC- and RCA-type component video inputs, PC inputs, a 12V trigger jack, and an RS-232 seaport for outward system control.

On the downside the HDMIs are only built to the v1.2 spec, not the example v1.3, and so aren’t compatible with Deep Colour or x.v.Colour notion sources.

In this respect, we’re still having a hard-headed time coming to terms with its pricey flagship. Benq.

March 24, 2008

It’s no bowl over why shoe-string budget hunters have a soft spot for this Taiwanese brand. Not only are the company’s DLP retirement community theater projectors one of the most affordable among its competitors, they are also no sure thing when rendering amazing visuals. In this respect, we’re still having a hard stretch coming to terms with its pricey flagship.

Having said that, BenQ has once and for all returned to its roots with its stepped-down 1080p W5000. The best part is, both projectors portion the same user manual with hardly any independent references to each model, so users will find the W5000 not that much different from the W20000. ….
